Previously, Münter had traveled extensively with another artist named Kandinsky, but in 1908, she wanted to settle down. She discovered the place "Murnau am Staffelsee" for herself, as she was fascinated by the visual

impressions of the area. In 1908, she painted, worked, and discussed much with two other painters (von Werefkin, Jawlensky), who lived near her at the time. It was during this time that she found her own expressionist style.

In 1909, Münter and Kandinsky discovered an abandoned building just outside Murnau, now known as the "Münter House". They worked there until 1914 when the First World War began.

During this time, they also founded the well-known "New Artists' Association Munich" and "Der Blaue Reiter". The New Artists' Association Munich (N.K.V.M.), co-founded by Münter in 1909, offered various artists the

opportunity to present early expressionist paintings. Their objective was to express only what is necessary. Münter left this association a few years later to found "Der Blaue Reiter". This group aimed to present an artistic focus on

a specific type of brightly colored, expressive, and partly abstract formal language.

In general, it is very interesting to see how Münter's style changed from a more impressionistic to an expressionist one
