Winter Festivals
It starts with cleaning around the house and weeding on the 24th, Christmas Eve. Many families in my village buy meat, rice, soda, and many other delicacies. Every girl and boy organizes their newly bought clothes for a beautiful Christmas tomorrow.
On Christmas morning, everyone prepares a hearty breakfast. Some families have bread that they haven't eaten in a long time. Grandmother makes our traditional sauce, eshabwe, made from cow's ghee and salt, which is good to take with matooke and Karo made from millet flour. The Karo is put in hot water and mixed, mostly enjoyed by the elders.
After attending prayers, we return home to quench our hunger with a delicious dinner. Other well-off families go for family outings, while others go to the village football pitch to watch the match between different village teams.
