When Jialiang asked me to write about a famous German musician I’m listening to, I wasn't sure what to say because I normally listen to English songs. However, I remembered a highly talented band called Unheilig and their singer and songwriter, who is famous as “Der Graf” or “Unheilig”. Unfortunately, he is no longer making music as he ended his career a few years ago. Nonetheless, his songs are still popular and wonderful. He created very emotional songs that referred to recent incidents in his own life. One of the best ones is a tribute to his deceased friend and colleague. He was very touched by his friend's death and these songs also gave him more strength.

He wrote the song “Geboren um zu leben,” which means directly translated, “Born to live”. The song emphasizes the worth of life and its value. He connected this to his friend and tells the listeners that he first felt the worth of life when he saw others losing it. Although my favorite song is “Winter”.

There are also many other songs like this, which give me hope and strength. Although his songs are often sad, when you understand the words he is singing, it sometimes makes you feel down. However, overall, his songs encourage me and help me to see the positive sides of life. It may sound strange, but hearing this sad stuff connected with his yell of hope, I recognize the good sides of my own life. I love his songs and I’m curious to know if you like them too.
