When it comes to the grandest festival in China, Spring Festival is always the first option that comes to people’s minds. In celebration of the festival and welcoming the brand new year, a variety of customs have been formed.

Certain customs are of particular interest. Let us take some of them, for instance, the most common one is sweeping dust which represents the good wish of putting away old things and making everything look fresh in the new year. Simultaneously, the family reunion dinner is of great significance, generally taking place on the lunar New Year’s

Eve. Last but not least, many people stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve to “ring out” the Old Year and “ring in” the New Year.
