He was not born into nobility; he was born amidst the abyss of poverty, the wailing of the working class. He had witnessed the cruelty of hunger, the totalitarian war, and the exploitation of noblemen. So, he picked up his pen and wrote for the laborers, the proles; he left the gentle words of literature; he wrote for freedom, for rebellion. His writing turned into lightning that cut through the sky; he became 'Bidrohi Kobi', the rebel poet of Bengal. He is famous in all sections of Bengali literature, including plays, songs, poems,

and novels. He was a talented musician, creating a new genre of Bengali music known as ‘Nazrul Giti’, writing over six thousand songs. But in the hearts of all Bengalis, he is “The Rebel”, the only poet known as “The Rebel," a title that only suits him.

Within the vivid tapestry of Bengali literature, the verses of Kazi Nazrul Islam resonate with the rhythms of “Kalboishakhi”, the storm that can destroy everything. His songs commence with the resounding “Damama” of War, with the sound of thunder. The beauty of his writing lies not only in its linguistic

richness but also in its ability to evoke raw emotions. His songs and poems are not just verses written with mastery of language; they are the cry of the people, their pursuit of freedom, the rage within their veins. The poems and songs not only inspired people to take action against foreign exploiters during British rule but also against the exploitation of Pakistani rulers during the pre-liberation period. His poem "Anondomoyeer Agomone" (Arrival of the Blissful Mother) urged people to take up arms against British rule, for which he was sent to prison. In the poem "Bidrohi" (The Rebel), Nazrul's' fiery verses emerge as the rallying cry for rebellion. Each line is infused with a spirit that ignites the passion for freedom and the determination to destroy everything in its way.

Nazrul's works have always been a source of inspiration for Bengali people. He even wrote the War song "Chol Chol Chol". He is still revered as the national poet of Bangladesh.
