My English Learning Journey

There's a boy who used to hate English and almost everything about learning but made a fascinating twist years later. His story sounds amazing, right? But that is just me, who

is writing this article now.

In the first half of my primary school years, everything was on the right track. Unfortunately, my favorite English teacher was unable to teach me in grade 4, and the new teacher

seemed strict and unkind. For me, it was like the sky of dreams collapsed within a second. Since then, my passion for English gradually faded, and it was like an influenza,

killing my enthusiasm for other subjects. Ultimately, I ended up failing to keep myself climbing up and became addicted to digital devices.

Fortunately, I have a responsible mother who quit her job to lift me up. After comprehending my situation, she tried her best to save me from the inferno. She succeeded in

restoring my faith in English and consequently reignited my passion for learning everything.

Back to the topic of English learning, for me, I have various learning methods. Before I list them up, I think it's indispensable to stress that English is a tool to be used repeatedly,

not an exam to be passed mechanically. Only if you keep this in mind can you make significant progress in English.

For listening and speaking, listening to English songs not only frees up your mind but also provides you a chance to polish your listening. Additionally, if I encounter an ear

catching song, I usually learn to sing it and imitate the native tones. Also, I'm the anchor of the column "English Air Time" of our school broadcast station, which helps me

enhance my oral English more professionally. Last summer holiday, I paid an 8-day visit to the United States and succeeded in having talks with native speakers. In a word,

listening and speaking should be combined when learning to save our precious time.

For writing and reading, vocabulary should be the key. Once you recite a sufficient quantity of words, you'll find that reading speed and efficiency won't be a problem anymore.

To write better, I believe that accumulation over time and frequent use are essential. Once you notice a suitable word for writing, record it in mind and try to use it in your

composition. Repeating and reapplying would be better, as it can help our brain establish the relevant neuro links, thus strengthening our memory.

For grammar, I hold a common belief that practice makes perfect. English grammar is a world full of general rules and special situations. As a result, you need to memorize

them all and carve them onto your heart. For this process, I agree that exercising may help. A grammar exercise book may be what you need.

In the end, interest is the best teacher. Stimulate your passion, and it won’t be that hard. For me, I set the voice pack to the English version in the game "Call of Duty ". In

addition, I switched my default language to English on my digital devices to ensure I have enough exposure to the English environment.

Now looking back, I now believe that I have made a full revival of my own life. I hope this passage may point out a bright way out of the darkness for you!
