Marco Evaristti, born in Chile, is a Danish artist. Most of his work is seen as

controversial or provocative, but the most famous of all was the installation “Helena” from 2000, displayed at Trapholt in Kolding. The installation consisted of 10 plugged in blenders containing live Swordtail fish (often mistaken for goldfish). As part of the installation, the audience could go up and turn on a blender at any time, effectively killing the fish. Shortly after the installation had opened, two fish were dead. Then another five were killed by two young men (according to Jyllandsposten). After the deaths of 8 fish and a subsequent police report based on violation of the Animal Welfare Act, the museum was ordered to turn the blenders off.
