Christmas Specials

Although Sri Lanka is a mostly Buddhist country (with only 7% of people being Christians), Christmas is celebrated as a public festival by everyone. It falls on December 25th in our country and is a holiday for us.

We decorate our houses with Christmas trees and lights, and we make a lot of sweets, especially Christmas cakes. Christians in our country go to their religious places for more celebrations, and we have parties at their houses. Although we are Buddhist, we help them to celebrate. Our cities and special places are decorated with Christmas decorations in December.
